Travel Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands are an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean, located approximately 300 miles off the mainland coast of South America, 700 miles from continental Antarctica, and 3,800 km of Africa. There are two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, and 776 smaller islands. The islands are a self-governing Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom and Stanley in East Falkland, is the capital.

Since the restoration of British rule in 1833 with Argentina over sovereignty. In pursuit of this claim is rejected by the islanders, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands in 1982. This precipitated the two months that the Falklands War between Argentina undeclared and the United Kingdom and led to the defeat and withdrawal of Argentine forces.

Since the war, there has been strong economic growth in both fisheries and tourism.
