Venezuela is a country in South America. Having a coastline on the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, Venezuela borders Colombia to the west, Guyana to the east and south of Brazil, and is situated on major sea and air routes between North and South America. Off the coast of Venezuela are the states of the Caribbean island of Aruba, the Netherlands Antilles and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Angel Falls (Churún Meru) in the Guiana Highlands is the highest waterfall in the world and one of the major attractions of Venezuela.

Andes - hilly and picturesque, this region comprises the states of Mérida, Táchira and Trujillo. Caribbean Islands - With over 600 islands and smaller formations, many of the best beaches can be found here. Central - The most populous of Venezuela has great beaches and major cities of Caracas and nearby towns in the vicinity in Miranda and Vargas states Aragua and Carabobo. Guyana Zone - The immense and largely uninhabited south of the Orinoco River, which constitutes about half of Venezuela's national territory, including in the Amazon jungle, mountain table top in the Gran Sabana and the state of Bolivar, and the marshes of floor extends into the Orinoco Delta. Los Llanos - Vast open plains, where livestock and wildlife incredible development of Apure, Barinas, Cojedes, Guarico and Portuguesa. Northeast - stunning deserted beaches in Anzoátegui and Sucre, as well as the hills and caves in the state of Monagas. Northwest - in the oil rich Zulia state, northwest also has beaches in Falcón and a lush agricultural area in Yaracuy and Lara.

Los Andes Venezolanos
Dear AllGreetings from the mountains of Venezuela. Here I am in the touristy town of Mrida high up in the Andes of Western Venezuela and what lovely weather up here less of the hot and humid more of the cloudy and cold. Never thought Id miss the latter And the bonus is my hostel has hot water I havent seen this since Caracas and it really is a treat. To be honest in the hot zones

Return to Venezuela
Hey GuysGreetings again from Venezuela I am back in da police state of Chavez and its not going too badly at all. Since I last wrote I have pretty much left the backpackertrail of Colombia and followed the Andes mountain range more or less towards the north and east and just this morning crossed the border back from Colombia to Venezuela and am now in a baking hot city called San Cristob

No money no electricity no security
Equals no tourist industryI am ready to go home. This trip has lasted long enough. Venezuela is too much for a humble solo female backpacker like myself.
